All  too often, a news story begins with the frightening words, "Fire broke out..."
Some, like this past May's devastating wildfire in Slave Lake, capture the  nation's attention. Others are announced on local broadcasts, when tragedy hits  right at home.


This  was the case on March 24th 2011 in Iqaluit, Nunavut, where 24 families fled for
their lives as fire engulfed their three-storey apartment block. Residents had
little more than the clothes on their back as they escaped into the icy -30°C
night.

Home Protection:
